Personality:All in all Amelia is an easy to get to know young woman who comes across as being pretty normal. For the most part she chooses to project the image of a sweet and bubbly teenager with a great fashion sense and a keen mind to learn. There are other sides to her of course as with most people but she doesn't often let people get close enough to see more than what she wants them to.
Amelia is very stubborn. When she gets an idea in her head there is little that can remove it. She doesn't exactly have a problem with authority but if someone tries to make her go against her beliefs it will only make her dig her heels in deeper. While she is good-natured and trusting, she does have a rather fierce temper and the claws will come out if she gets back into a corner. She's not one for violence but that doesn't mean she won't resort to it if she has no other options.
Being a perfectionist in everything she does, dancing especially, Mel is incredibly self-critical and harsh about herself. She doesn't take criticism very well and doesn't take many compliments she receives seriously either.
Mel knows nothing of the supernatural world, she remains blissfully unaware that vampires are more than just creatures in bad movies and books. She's never once come into contact with anything remotely supernatural or she doesn't think she has anyway, there's a chance that she's friends with a vampire or a witch and just doesn't know it. It's hard to say just how she would take the news that they are real, it depends on how she would learn about it all.
Family is very important to Amelia. She has issues when it comes to her grandmother but if it came down to it that her grandmother needed her, she would be there.
The whole subject of love is foreign to Amelia for the most part. She is completely focused on her dream to become a dancer so boyfriends and stuff like that would have to wait. Not only that but Mel feels she's too young to really know what it's like to be in love. If it comes to her while in school than maybe she'd see it but so far she had never felt that way about anyone. Perhaps because she had always viewed that sort of thing as an unnecessary distraction.

History:Amelia Diane Saint was born on a cool October evening to Jane and Nathaniel Saint. Being that she was the second child and thus the baby of the family as well as the only girl, she was pampered by her doting somewhat overprotective parents and given all she could want and more. Her brother Mason who was three years older than her disliked his sister when she first came into the world, more to the point his world.
At a young age Amelia displayed a certain penchant for mischief, especially when it came to her older brother who seemed the best target. Stealing his toys and getting him in trouble by crying when he had done nothing wrong did little to improve his initial impression of her. As the years went by their sibling rivalry continued and escalated from stealing toys to tattling on one another to get the other in trouble. They didn't hate one another but they didn't get along either. Their parents displayed some worry to begin with, especially when it came to blows between them but for the most part they figured it would pass in time.
There was one thing that Amelia loved even more than fighting with her brother and that was dancing. Mel loved to twirl and spin and just dance even when there was no music playing. Her father would often comment on how graceful she moved despite having never taken any lessons. Eventually she was able to take lessons and she learned ballet to start but it was so restrictive as far as she was concerned. It was graceful and elegant but she wanted more than just balancing on her tip-toes.
All was well in Amelia's childhood but it seemed that her adolescence could not be the same. Tragedy had struck the small happy family in the form of a terrible car accident. Amelia had been nine and her brother twelve at the time of the car crash. Their father had been driving and they had been heading back home from a Christmas party when the car struck black ice and spun out of control. Hitting the guardrails, it flipped over the side of a hill and rolled a dozen or so times before it came to rest on it's top.
Amelia had a broken arm and multiple cuts and bruises but she had survived which was more than could be said about her mother and father. Nathaniel died before the paramedics could reach them and Jane died not long after they reached the hospital. As for Mason, he suffered a bad head trauma that left him in a coma for a week. Their grandmother had to be called to get Amelia who didn't want to leave her brother's side until he woke up.
The car accident shattered Amelia's lovely little world she had been living in and shoved her into the cold hard reality of being an orphan. Thankfully she and Mason had their grandmother so they didn't have to worry about going into an orphanage or foster care but it was still hard. Moving from Pennsylvania where they had lived, they moved to the small town of Mystic Falls to try and start a new life together. It wasn't easy of course but they managed with the money their grandmother had, buying a house and going to school for Mason and Amelia. Neither Mason nor Amelia have come across anything supernatural in the eight years that they've lived in Mystic Falls but one never knows when that may change.
